Resin & forged iron
7.6 x 5.9 x 9.6cm
Edition of 20
British sculptor Alison Wilding is known for her inventive approach to form and material. Often bringing together two separate elements, her sculptures contrast a range of materials, subtle surfaces and shifts in scale, light, colour and texture. Header has been inspired by an older work, conceived many years ago but which is yet to have been realised. Several brass tubes, brazed together to make 3-way joints for the sculpture had been sitting on her shelf in the studio, with a Jasper sphere balanced on it. Recast in resin with the sphere made of forged iron, the edition is a glimpse into her creative process and her intimate relationship to the materials she works with. Edition produced to coincide with Alison Wilding's contribution to Conversation Pieces as part of Shelagh Wakely: A View From A Window at Camden Arts Centre 13 July 2014 - 28 September 2014.
